That's fantastic. I love stories like this, and I've even written a couple.

I always wanted a brother, and when my folks adopted my cousin Chris when we were in high school I got the perfect brother who's also my best friend. It's almost like we were twins separated at birth. We aren't, but Chris is 4 days older than me so it seems that way.
