Young Welsh Rugby player comes out

South Wales is just across the Severn River estuary from me - I can see the enormous Millennium Stadium in Cardiff from here. The stadium seats 80,000 and is a testament to the Welsh obssession with Rugby - the national religion. Cardiff is a modern metropolis but just inland from there is the string of small towns and villages that make up the area known as 'the valleys', running up to the Brecon Beacons mountain range, where the coal mining industry was the major employer until about fifty years ago and where the local people since then have struggled to find employment. The communities are close-knit, very traditional, macho, and not exactly gay-friendly. So the Youtube testament of this young man is particularly inspiring:

It seems to me there are more to be proud of than just this young man. The Welsh people of the area, both young and old, deserve a lot of praise, in my opinion.

Yes, I've always admired the Welsh people as being courageous and this young man is a fine example of that. His desire to encourage other gay athletes is admirable.
