We hear and read so much about the bad people among us, we need reminders like this about the enormous number of good people that populate this earth, too. There is an awareness now of the gay kids in our communities, and of their families, that wasn't there only a couple of decades ago. Gay kids are now like mainstreamed kids with special needs: they're being accepted into the fabric of ordinary communal life. When you look at this from the perspective of someone who was around when Eisenhower was president, let me say, it's an amazing thing to witness.
