Surprised there isn't a petition to have him replaced!

Unfortunately some people in the Vatican are already suggesting that, though I think it has more to do with his clamp downs on their scams that his religious views.

At least the Catholic Church has a leader who doesn't freak out every time natural phenomena gives us blood moons or eclipses. This Pope has a scientific mind and won't be fooled by such things, unlike some other religious cults:

I thought the fear of nature went out with the Neanderthals who must have viewed planetary oddities with trepidation. Modern science has explained most of them to us, except perhaps for those who yearn to see the End Times and don't accept science. All their fears make me laugh at this childish sense of the universe.

There's a campaign here in San Francisco calling for a recall, not of the Pope but the Archbishop of the Diocese of San Francisco, Salvatore Cordileone, and the recall petitions are being sent to the Pope. Here's why, excerpted from a letter to the editor in the September 26th issue of the San Francisco Chronicle:

It's because he issued an order forbidding Father Jack McClure from saying Mass at Most Holy Redeemer Church in San Francisco... [because] he attended a conference that supported women priests... Most Holy Redeemer is well known as a welcoming parish that attracts many LGBTs. This is not the first time that Cordileone has banished a good priest from saying Mass at Most Holy Redeemer, simply because Cordileone, who has long fought against LGBT rights, did not agree with a pastor’s political perspectives.

Archbishop Cordileone went to Washington DC to appear at the "March for Marriage" in June with an objective of influencing the Supreme Court decision on Proposition 8. He tried to force the teachers contract to include to a "Morals Code" that dictated how they had to live their private lives in order to keep their jobs (no masturbation!). He tried to force students to sign a similar morals code and distributed a pamphlet to elementary through high school students with words for sexual acts that you wouldn't want 8 and 9 year old kids to read. No wonder the Pope didn't want to come to San Francisco for the canonization of Father Serra!
