  1. OMG...If I just saw notice of the AD Radio Show #25 then it wouldn't be on hiatus... 'til Labor day...which can only mean I forgot to look at the date of the post again? Because I still can't find the one I was trying to click--and I'm almost afraid to ask what happens to posts when they get old, but seems logical they'd have to close sometime. Can I withdraw the question? Tracy
  2. I, ummmmm, can't seem to find it at the moment...but it's where all the past AD radio shows are listed...I'll keep looking after work today. Sorry. I hope someday that linking will be second-nature. Tracy
  3. I had noticed, and wondered, as much as I allow myself to do that; if you can't possibly know, it's torture to ask oneself "why is that?" It's always good to hear of good people doing good things for themselves, Des, and if a portion of the result comes back to is in the form of your work, well, you'll hardly get a complaint from me. A situation where less is a long, long way from little or nothing, and one in which it easy to just be happy for you and wish you the best of everything and in all things. Tracy
  4. Hello Folks: After encountering the following problem, which is more with a thread than AD radio itself, I did see that the show is on leave until Labor Day. But what the heck, might as well be ready. When I tried to access the thread entitled "How to Listen", the standard error message appeared which usually indicates I forgot to sign in--but I was signed in, and even logged out and back in my usual feeble attempt to solve a problem on my own. Any thoughts or suggestions? As always, I appreciate any and all assistance. Tracy
  5. Gripping piece Des, and I appreciate it as well as your ongoing desire to inform those such as myself who may be less able to soldier through the daily news quagmire. It's not that I don't want to know, or that I do not want to participate, it is more an issue of temperament, and though I do not expect "protection" and consideration for what may be a weakness of character, I most certainly recognize and am grateful if that is what I attain by the actions of others. Your piece speaks to the heart of the matter, from both sides, naming the enemy by the nature of it's gain and the victims by the consequences of the loss. IMHO, that is the only road to understanding that might one day produce solutions that WORK. If Utopia is a fool's dream, a closer approximation is as logically possible as the world we see before us, born of intention as would any other. The mention of Obama in the heading is the type of inflammatory "padding" of an arguement I can understand as a tactic, but view as too dangerous an indulgence, and it angers and saddens me regardless of my position on any particular issue. But however it is worded, this is information I would want to be made aware of, and your poem lends it a perspective that I assure you is helpful and useful; as much as I would like to be otherwise, I am by nature inclined to reaction, and distraction often prevents the deeper analysis that might make it productive. So, my sincere and muli-leveled thanks to you, for your work which is always that and more. Tracy
  6. Duh, I see it isn't, but it sounds like Pecman has a copy... Tracy
  7. Isn't it on Nifty? That's where I read it. Tracy
  8. Colin, my Knight! Well said. Some things just beg a response, Cole, and if I had noticed the date, I wouldn't have let a little thing like that get in my way. Tracy
  9. Wouldn't "editor" be more in keeping with the spirit of the humor? I suppose he could be a manager of proofreaders... Tracy
  10. The basics are so some of us can get 100%. Readers like to know this stuff, too, so they don't make fools of themselves when writing to writers. So, is that a sentence or isn't it? Oh, it's a joke. Probably would help if I knew Pee Jay better; I got wickedman right away. A simple explanation can take an inordinate amount of effort--thanks Jan. Tracy
  11. Yes, it does, very much. 9 I got right. 5 is said was. And even though in this case it helps my score for either word to be considered acceptable, I'm not sure how changes based on "vogue" will help in the long run. I can only hope it's not as arbitrary as it sounds... Thanks Cole. Tracy
  12. I did better than I thought I would with this one. A couple problems with present perfect. VERY helpful though, Jan, thank you. Tracy
  13. I don't get why 5 and 9 are both were. I might ordinarily have chosen it for both, but I was trying to follow the rule as I understood it. (Yes, I know where the emphasis lies in that sentence) The answer has to be simple compared to him/her, her/him; I have to wonder if we ever attain anything approaching equality, if we will worry less about who's on top. I said worry, preferences are a different matter all together. Rule or law, i'll not choose shall. It's just...stuffy. Tracy
  14. When Reta was about the age of this child, we were in the car and she asked me where we were going. "Crazy" was my response. When I pulled into the driveway at home, she burst into tears, screaming "I want to go to Crazy!!!!" Explain figures of speech to a three year old... Haha, thanks for the memories, Cole. How DO you find this stuff? Tracy
  15. How not to need spellcheck. Tracy
  16. Certainly some squabbling was to be expected, Des. You can't buy this kind of entertainment. Cole, your explanation worked for me. That ought to scare you. Wibby, yours did, too, but that's to be expected. But I don't get the her/it thing at all. I'll just avoid that one. Easy enough in conversation. Written conversation-easier yet. Next lesson awaits. Thanks, Jan, all. Tracy
  17. Truly amazing impact in such a small space, Trab. Thanks for reminding me of everything I love about words. Tracy
  18. This is definitely the one time I always, and clearly, think "I'm soooo glad i'm a girl. But there's also one where I think "Next time i'mma be a boy, and have one of those..." No, Freud, it's isn't a penis. Funny flash, Cole, and mischievous too. Tracy
  19. I'm thinkin' it had somethin' to do with...somethin'. I'm a big fan of spontaneous responses in general, and those moments when everything relevant hits you in the space of a second and you know what to do and you do. Nice work, Gee. Tracy
  20. Well, I get it now. Thank you Camy. What? Somebody thought this was an act?
  21. How do you make the links available and still close the browser? Tracy
  22. Or maybe I could just submit my questions for you to ask. Tracy
  23. And the evil twin, of course, am I screwed if I did? OK, you knew it was coming, here's my question: If I have to close my browser, how do I get the links? Hehe, that was what i'd ask last year, but today I think maybe I open the links first, close the browser, and give a go to the uninstaller, and when that's done, give a go to the other one. Laugh all you want, but do correct me if i'm wrong. Forget what it is, Do I need Adobe AIR? Tracy
  24. Well, I'm sufficiently petrified. And I got at least 2 of these demons on my system.. I'mma shut her down until I get home from work, and can walk off the cliff that doing anything with files is for me. I know what adobe reader does. And vaguely that flash players are for games and maybe animation of all kinds? What's adobe air? Camy your links look really, really friendly. Adobe security advisor, not so much. Gotta pony-up for this one. Thanks all, I wouldn't hear about it anywhere else. Tracy
  25. I love FREE. And 2gb would mean my stuff would have a lot of grazing room. I finally got to tell my daughter something she didn't know. It's been years! Thanks Camy. Tracy
