I can't tell if that is uplifting or depressing, but whichever it is, it is certainly thought provoking.

Well, I didn't find it uplifting, certainly. But I did find it very powerful, compulsive writing. I felt I was there in the heat and the dust and the despair. Life really is like that for countless people in Iraq and other countries, in the Middle East and elsewhere. It is rare that a short piece brings that fact to our attention so clearly, persuasively.

Thanks for the link, Camy. Geoffrey claims a 'secret life' as a poet, but it's flashy enough for me to have seen his signals in the sky from afar.
