  1. In May. It's not the worst city but it has a lot of problems. The first night I was here, a window was broken and the battery was stolen out of my truck. The cop that came by to take the report said welcome to the neighborhood. You can often hear gunfire at night.
  2. Into the City Burbs rats, spoiled brats, so cool in backwards hats, Basket brawls, drunken crawls, endless country-music drawl, Nerdy dips on acid trips trying hard to be tragically hip, Nursery rhymes, capital crimes, side by side in the urban grime, Telephone crews, the cheapest booze, novel writers selling shoes, Macho men, studying zen so they can slaughter their kin, White trash, hopes smashed, Jesus freaks seeking cold hard cash, Skater kids, Freudian id, broken drunks on the skids, Working nights, gaudy lights, pimps and hoes in noisy fights, Sleazy places, sacred spaces, maudlin coyote faces, Crowds in view, shades of blue, who the fuck knew, Cats in heat, vodka neat, predators looking to cheat, Women vain, raising cain, looking for someone else to blame, Trading gladness and subtle sadness for a taste of chemical madness, Rocks in shoes, crappy news, talking heads selling points of view, Too many hands, like so much sand, lost in this human wasteland.
  3. :smt117 :smt075 :smt046 I've seen a LOT of movies where the gags weren't nearly as creative.
  4. Loved it! :D ... but it made me smoke a whole pack and take a cold shower. ;-)
  5. Wow, glad you survived EleCivil! That's enough drama for a summer movie. It's a great story and I look forward to it! And... I'm intrigued by the new work that you hinted about.
  6. It seems to be, That what I see, Contains a beauty, That others cannot see. My favorite, and yes, I see it too.
  7. All three have their merits. I have my favorites of each one. Sirloin, fried chicken, catfish!? Don't make me chose! Don't forget the pork, lamb, shellfish, turkey, deer, quail, Cornish game hens, buffalo... animals- aren't they delicious? I'm partial to the shellfish! Ah mercury, sweetest of the transition metals.
  8. I don't know why but for some reason I had a flashback from "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" when I read it.
  9. I like it TR. I know that i've been there myself but the class was trig. ;-)
  10. Bad news- it's confirmed. Good news- it's treatable.
  11. :smt005 :smt046 Reminds me of my Algorithms final project. Argh- C code looks a lot like Klingon at 3:30 am.
  12. :smt026 never been sure what this emoticon was for. I think it means keep bouncing along. :smt025 Thanks guys. I'll keep you informed.
  13. Hugs everybody. This ain't the most pleasent birthday present ever but it ain't over till the specialist pokes me in the eye. ;-) Owie!
  14. DJ! Oh my goodness!
  15. Now I remember what it is that I really like about this story! I am a big fan of Conrad (Heart of Darkness, Secret Sharer) and enjoy a good sea yarn. Castaways reminds me a great deal of Conrad both in style and setting without Conrad's dark and murky look at humanity. Castaways is a very enjoyable yarn.
  16. glaucoma is a condition which damages the optic nerve eventually causing blindness [yikes]. There are various kinds of glaucoma- the kind they think that I've got comes from being roughed up. Treatment and prognosis depends on exactly which kind it is. My optomologist sent me to a specialist for more tests. I prefur the tests you take when you are young- at least you get to study for those. For this kind of test, they poke you in the eye.
  17. My optomologist has been putting me through a battery of tests. On Friday, she sent me to a glaucoma specialist. She says that I might have traumatic glaucoma. I'm going in for testing on Thursday and am quite concerned.
  18. I dedicate this to Ronnie Antonio Paris. If you are wondering where it came from, see Link>> Antonio?s Song In the beginning, I used to be your little man. Now you can?t stand me, And I?m afraid of your hands. Why do you hurt me? What did I do wrong? Why can?t I please you? Does it make you feel strong? I just can?t see, I can?t understand, How hurting me, Is gonna make me a man. What mistakes did I make? What did I ever do to you? Why don?t you love me anymore? Why do the things that you do? Daddy please don?t hit me, I can?t take it anymore, I know that it?s all my fault, My heart is broken, Cause you don?t love me anymore. I will just close my eyes, And slowly slip away, Why did I have to die? How can a three year old be gay?
  19. Congratulations Codey! I wish you and your family happiness and prosperity! :smt041 I had no idea adults could spit their drink their nose like we kids can. Yep, it's possible and it is harder to get over having carbonation up your nose.
  20. You would be amazed at how much money that you can make if you're as respected as the Catholic Church and the donations are deductable. The bible asks that believers give 10%. Work that out over a 1000+ years and even the most inept instution should be richer than the dreams of averice. Due to recent scandles, their donations are way down.
  21. My pleasure Gabe. This story is amazing, touching, challenging, emotional and a whole lot of other things that earn it a solid four stars rank in my eyes. I've seen people asking what should I read this summer? Angel would be a very good start. Without too much tinkering, I think it would make an outstand movie. Sign my DVD case?
  22. Standing Ovation! Well Done Gabe.
  23. Why be so obsessed with the origin? When people look for the origin of something, in my experience, they generally are looking for a way to destroy it, or manipulate it. Why can't people just live with the fact that gays are here to stay, and that it doesn't matter what causes homosexuality because it's going to happen no matter what. -N Knowing the origin of homosexuality is very important! Our critics claim that homosexuality is a choice like deciding what to have for breakfast or a sickness like psycosis. If it can be shown that homosexuality is a naturally occurring condition, then it becomes very difficult to justify systemic discrimination or attempts to "cure" us.
  24. Thanks for sharing your fantasy with us sweetheart.... :) No, no, no- my fantasy involves Seth Green, Brett Farve and a sauna...
