vwl
Despite the creeping commercialism of Black Friday marketing, I find Thanksgiving the finest of holidays. There is no gift-giving, no religious ceremonies to attend, no decorated-tree or dyed-egg accoutrements. It is a time to sit down with family and friends to enjoy each other, eat well, play games, watch football and whatever is relaxing. My parents used to invite all the people they knew who had nowhere else to go, creating a warm and welcoming place for a day. It is a tradition that we maintain. Link to comment
Cole Parker
Hah! Obviously, no one is twisting your arm to make three pies. Then, then, you'd be less enchanted by the day! But, still, Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and if anyone wants an excellent recipe for a banana/coconut cream pie, I've got a killer! C Link to comment
JamesSavik
Yesterday a judge ruled Mississippi's Amendment barring same-sex marriage unconstitutional so gay marriage will happen in Mississippi in the next few weeks. Never thought I'd live to see that happen. That's a pretty special gift to us. Link to comment

Trab
It's one judge's gift and will only last till the appeals start, if it goes the same way as so many other states. Sadly, the will to discriminate remains, even if it's not legal... Link to comment
Cole Parker
They fought emancipation, too, and look where that got 'em. Actually, I think Mississippi is far ahead of some of the southern states. C Link to comment
