  1. For what it's worth, I started reading each story by every author here, from the back end of the alphabet. It's an amazing journey, and you really have no idea what you are getting until you are into it. I would love to see genres posted, and I'm wondering if it couldn't be as simple as an alphabetical letter immediately before each title. "A-Street Urchins of Chicago" might be horror, "B-Street Urchins of Milwaukee" a fantasy, etc. Any overlapping genres might incorporate two or three letters.
  2. Quite entertaining. I did find the thought of having statutes around a garden a bit troublesome, but that's politicians for you. πŸ˜‚
  3. Maybe, Cole, but you'd have to pay for the program/app development.

    Gratitude and appreciation?
  5. I guess I just learned a new term, "head hops". Yes, well if the author head hops for several chapters after a cliff hanger, even a binge reader is hung πŸ™€πŸ˜ΊπŸ˜ΊπŸ˜ΊπŸ˜‚.
  6. Not that this applies to Cole's stories, but I've been bitten so often by reading serial stories than end up with nearly terminal delays before the next chapter, that I now mostly wait till the story is completed, and then binge read it. A cliff hanger is not much of one if you get to the next chapter a minute later. That said, there are some scoundrel authors who change the point of view (character followed) for one or more chapters, so creating a cliff hanger even for the binge reader.

    2018

I keep wondering why it still has 2018 on the topic of joining, but at this point maybe changing it to 2020 would be more advantageous. πŸ™€
  8. Thanks for the invite, but I'm actually too busy. I'm in the process of comparing two different versions of a 368 page legal contract. They are supposed to be the same, but all the Articles and subs have been put in different places and given new numbers. I have to find any mistakes and omissions. Fun huh?
  9. It's a real worry too. But just thinking about mowing my lawn, or even putting out the garbage and recycling, reminds me of the workday hardships.
  10. Are you suggesting that without circumcision there wouldn't be pricks in the IRS? If only! 😸
  11. I'm guessing someone will; but not me. Right now I couldn't shake a story out if my life depended on it. Good thing it doesn't! Are you?
  12. I just found out; I feel gutted, but saying anything seems trite, yet saying nothing even worse. 😒

    story

It wasn't half bad at all, although certainly not high literature, but it's disappointing that it was just dropped incomplete. I suspect many of these incomplete stories are because there is too little feedback to the authors. Sad.

Talo, It looks like you're right. It was posted back in 2014. Up till now I thought I was good at finding old stories with obscure references. Well done! πŸ†πŸŽ–

    Is there a question? 😁
  16. Every advanced species thinks they have God on speed dial? I suspect they're not too advance then. <grin>
  17. Priceless. He knew it was priceless, because it was free, but couldn't help mimicking Captain Obvious. Okay, Free. Happy now?
  18. OMG. 8'. Truthfully, the only way I'd get 8' would be by climbing a 10' ladder. That was very enlightening.
  19. Is this story posted on Castle Roland?
  20. Well written. It's always been a wonder to me that once population control became obviously necessary the powers that be didn't start to encourage same sex and discourage hetero sex. I suspect that greed (for power and money) is the main reason. A reducing population doesn't lend itself to increasing power or markets.
  21. I've just read the wartime trilogy, and I'm totally impressed. "I'll see you down there" particularly affected me with both excitement, thrills, and poignant sorrow at loss and lost opportunities.
  22. Sadly, I too feel it's too damned late to change our impending doom, as a civilization and maybe a species. On a personal level I'm ready to go if it comes to that, but I don't want to suffer to get there. We should encourage the powers that be to provide quick release pills, rather than fighting to maintain people in an unwanted and often painful life of helpless misery. Dignity in dying (assisted suicide) is being fought all over the place: why?
  23. I know that expression, so I'm not upset at its use, but I want to point out that there is a writer of very awesome LGBTQ+ stories (sadly inactive for many years now) by that pen name. He reported being injured in a farm accident, and hasn't been heard from since (as far as I'm aware). 😒
  24. You shouldn't let your admiration for her writing affect your friendship. (chortle, snigger) Bias works in two directions. 😈 I've never bought (rented?) books online, from any of the various sources, and don't know how it works. Can someone explain it to me, simply? Does one need a dedicated reader for the various types, or are there apps to use on an iPad, and would that be one app or several? What are the various outlets to acquire the different books? Are they listed by category/genre? Plus any other information that is relevant, please.
  25. Frankly, I haven't even really bothered myself about the scheduling in the story. It is what it's stated as, and as I'm not going to school there it's not a concern. That said, when I was in Secondary school in the middle 1960's we operated on a 7 day cycle, and many kids hated that each weekday would have a changed lineup every week. You might think that as an aspie I'd be upset, but no; it's just another regular system that only seems random at first. I love this story, BTW. πŸ‘πŸ‘
