  1. Yikes! If the story is going to run until the time line reaches 2008, and at chapter 52 he's got to 1970, then this is going to be long. Very loooooong. Like Graeme I was a bit concerned about the protagonist's age gap, but it seems to have been explained logically, if not rather unbelievably. Nope. Camy
  2. Sorry Des, but I laughed like a loon at your tale of woe. Emergency plumbers and electricians are, almost by definition, Pirates. They have you over a barrel: they know it, you know it, and they love to screw you for every last penny.I'm in the wrong job!
  3. Erm ... well possibly.... Enlightenment, please.
  4. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6679431.stm It looks like the start of another revolution ... finally!
  5. Cockroaches are jet propelled? Hmm. This Emu's not convinced. Man2: Kung ano ang puno, siya ang bunga.Mabuhay!Camy ps ya gotta love Wikipedia!

No, no, no, Cole! Fear not. I was being enigmatic. Or trying to be, anyway. It's all between the lines. Camy

  15. Oh, yep! Have a great day! Party on down, eat, drink, and make merry ... ... for eventually we'll be on our way to re-take what's rightfully ours!!! I was wondering when is the best time for that. When you're all asleep would probably be easiest. Apparently my (by now very aged) relatives founded the state of Maryland. So a state visit isn't out of the question. Camy, the noble and wise.

    The occasional wobble

Both work, though different experiences. The Serpentine being akin to a walk on part in 'Death in Venice' whereas the tube is more like a nightclub ... erm ... with lights.I didn't see (or hear) Nicky. Me neither.
  19. It is essential to know if the prize is scones, donuts, or....Is there smallprint? Eg: 1st prize $100,000 or a bag of donuts at managements discretion. And rules: you must have rules. Lots of rules.I hope boyfriend gets better, soonest.
  20. Part of the reason I originally moved from 'the big smoke' down to the coast was to avoid the membership dues of the 'Getting Off One's Face' club. So, it was with trepidation (yeah right) that I got the call, and rushed for the train (Whoopee!!!). Mental salivation is just as good as physical in my opinion, though on the way up I much doubt anybody watching me would have known, and on the way back I could have cared less. London: one thing I have missed is the eye candy (paragraph two equally valid here ... though they can cross over). Not that I knew it until I realised it was lashing down with rain. Normally, when I'm in central London, I walk. But the rain made it impossible - so I got the tube. People watching is the only pastime for brief tube travel, and lawks-a-lawdy there were some fine specimens of mankind to watch. I knew there was something I was missing! Finally: I make it from the parochial windswept coast, to the urbane dealer's pad ... and much fun was had by all.

  22. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6245798.stm Bullying has moved out of the school yard in UK and US. One third of US online teenagers have been victims of cyber-bullying according to research by the Pew Internet Project. The most common complaint from teens was about private information being shared rather than direct threats. Girls were more likely than boys to be targets and teens who share their identities online are the most vulnerable, the survey found.
  23. http://www.awesomedude.com/elecivil/Laika/index.htm Chapter 14. Excellent. I'll say no more.
