You asked Pec, but I'll answer for myself. Actually the more I talk about it, the more it helps. Sometimes it will help a confusion in my mind or help get me 'unstuck' from writer's block.

Yeah, that's an old chestnut, but the reality is, there's always room for us to know more. but what you know can have an almost unlimited potential. I know a lot more now than I did ten years ago, that's for sure. I didn't say the only way, just the best way. I know shit about skateboarding culture, but I've been told I did a good job in ADIP. I never lived in London, but I received dozens of emails from Brits asking me where I lived in London, etc, etc. But that's all research, etc.

Many of my characters are composites of real people I know. Or in the case of one character, it's almost me. The best way to make a real character is to write what you know.

I make an effort to surround myself with people like that. I don't have all that many friends but friends are measured in quality and not quantity. The group here at AD certainly seems better than your average bear*..... Driver's an optimist about people despite his experiences and that amazes me :) * Apologies to Yogi

As a whole, the human race sucks. There are pockets of less sucky people here and there but as a whole when I look at mankind, I am disgusted. Not only am I a cynic, but a pessimist too. Oh wait, that makes me a realist, doesn't it? :)

There are some psychos on the net who took exception to the fact that not only are some of his characters straight, one of his 'gay' characters exhibited some strong signs of lust towards a member of the opposite sex. They didn't like his ending, they threatened him, his family and worse. As a result Driver's gone into virtual hiding. Although I am in regular contact with him, I have ceased begging him to come out of retirement because I totally understand his position. (I do occaisonally bug him to change his mind on EDL, which is the ultimate in masterpieces, but he doesn't appreciate my hints so I've sort of backed off even whinging about that....) Driver is a VERY decent sort of guy who didn't deserve what he got. No good deed goes unpunished. Really sad.

He's better than many mainstream authors and better than anything I've read on the net. I realize it's my opinion* but I really would put him up against all net authors and many bookstore authors.

A rare post by me in the poetry forums just to say I really liked this one. The last two verses (although overly optimistic) are very powerful.

I have been enjoying it thoroughly, and when #6 comes out shortly I believe you will enjoy it even more.
