  1. Gives new meaning to the term "small world." R
  2. Just re-read this story. I forgot how much I liked it the first time. Good show. R
  3. I just think it wasn't there. It appeared shortly after I noted its absence. R
  4. I like the fries they sell at the beach in Delaware and New Jersey with sea salt and malt vinegar. R
  5. Every time one of these deputies appears on the scene, I can't get rid of the image of Jackie Gleason playing Buford T. Justice in the "Smokey and the Bandit" movies. R
  6. I reloaded the already-open Grant Bentley page (the one linked above) and now this story appears with the "new" icon. It definitely was not there before when I made my last post. Good to have it available for others to see. R
  7. I should have been more clear. I don't see this story listed among the titles on the Grant Bentley page. Referring to this: http://www.codeysworld.com/grant-bentley/index.html R
  8. Just ran across this story again in random wanderings. Really nice development of the two sides of the coins, so to speak. Actually I was quite impressed with Sam's perceptiveness in figuring out what was going on with Tope so rapidly. I assume in all his reading he must have encountered something about this, or maybe there was someone he knew in the past that had the problem, or -- who knows? I was also a bit curious to know if Tope had had the same speech issues all his life, or if maybe something had happened to trigger the problem. All in all, an uplifting story that really made my morning. R
  9. I hope this story will be added to the master listing on the Author page so others can find it. R
  10. I feel especially sorry for the military kids that end up moving around every few years. It's no doubt compounded by the fact that their friends in school and on base housing are also moving all the time, so even if they stay in one place for a while their friends are passing in and out all the time. R
  11. I empathize with Tony because I got yanked out of my high school at the beginning of 11th grade to spend a year at a different high school on the other side of the country, and then yanked back at the beginning of 12th grade to return to my earlier school. It was weird because during 11th grade I knew I would be going back, and so couldn't really put down roots there, but when I got back to my original school in 12th grade the world had kind of passed me by and I felt somewhat like an outsider. Many years later my mother read a comment I had made about this, and she apologized for the wrenching transitions. I actually thought about doing something like Tony is planning in order to stay in my original stomping ground, but it was not to be. R
  12. "He talked a long time. Even said some things I needed to know." Seems like we readers can see where this is going earlier than the narrator. More than that I cannot say without risking spoilers. I will say, though, that I was surprised at how neutral and emotionless Colt apparently was when he received certain news in this chapter. R
  13. Ah, well, it took 25 chapters, but it looks like "it all went wrong" now. R
  14. "Our stay in Niceville was over." And an eventful stay it was, to say the least. R
  15. And so the tale comes to an end. I have to admit that I was surprised (shocked) by what Garrett did, but was also pretty amazed by the virulence of Greg's reaction. I'm not sure whether Garrett really learned a lesson, but it seems like Josh and Greg did. R
  16. OK . . . but what's the disguise for the dog? R
  17. And a nice "Dude's Pick" for Halloween. R
  18. A worthy "Dude's Pick" after all this time. R
  19. I think Colt is proving to be a kindred spirit with our narrator (whatever his real name is). Except the narrator doesn't have a dog following him around. R
  20. . . . . I stepped into the void. "Tune in again next time, boys and girls, for another thrilling episode of 'One Summer in Georgia.' Now this is your announcer, Cliff Hanger, wishing you all a good night." R
  21. A very sweet story with quite a passionate love scene near the end. R
  22. “We’ve got company.” Nothing is ever easy. R
  23. You don't suppose anyone would use, say, an abandoned T-shirt to track fugitives with? R
  24. Did the boy leave his T-shirt behind? Will that matter? R
