I'm Hot

I'm Hot, but you all knew that didn't you? We are sweltering in a heatwave here in Adelaide South Australia with 3 days (or is it 4) over 44C (111F). We have had over 30 people suffer sudden deaths from the heat with more expected. The politicians are to blame for the heat according to a section of the local community. I don't think any of our politicians could get up enough energy to expel the quantity of hot air that would be needed to raise the temperature to where it is at the moment.

Australia Day 2009

Here are my Australia Day thoughts, inspired by the ongoing debate about whether Australia should or should not drop its ties with the English monarchy and become a republic in its own right (or hopefully of the Left.) Some of the the thoughts and phrases may seem strange to those not intimate with Aussie custom. Becoming an Australian republic is not a simple matter of deciding to abandon the monarchy. This was one of the main reasons the public rejected the last proposal for Australia to be

Back!

Lord, did I need a hit. I was cold turkeying - a neat zombiesque dance I've worked out - all the way to the phone socket. With trembling hands I ripped apart the packaging of my new *free* wireless router. Fumbling in haste, I managed to plug in the filters and slip the cable home with a snick! With antici ... ... pation I powered up and logged on. Drooling as sweet, glorious bits and bytes flooded my system. Sweet, sweet WWW. Yep, with a new ISP I'm back ... oh yes *shudder* I am.

Happy New Year! :)

Hey, Happy New Year! I hope that 2009 will be better than last year and 2007 since I had recieved deaths of people I knew from school. It is really hard to ring in 2009 without Saul. In three months, it will be Quintin and Saul's first death anniversary. I am not looking foward to it. My heart is really hurting and still is. It will never go away, knowing that I lost a very good friend. Christmas was good, but it was the first time I experienced it without Saul. We always go to Christmas par

Happy Holidays!

Whatever you happen to call it, may I wish you all a very happy post winter solstice bash. Don't get too drunk, stoned, or whatever ... and if you do, then drink plenty of water before you crash out. Hugs! Camy

"Better?" "Better!" "Sure?" "Well ...."

Yes I am, but not quite 100%, which means several thing. No kissing, other than on the neck. So necking, as such, is right on. Actually, I rather like it. M's neck is just scrummy, though his hair - which is rather long - tickled my nose. I aim for right behind the ear, which means if I'm sneaky I get a little nibble on his lobe in as well. Mmm .... Sorry, it's probably way too much information. We were going to to carry on recording tomorrow, but as M's getting over the same thing - he's two d

I opened the window and influenza

I don't get ill a lot, so I'm a really bad patient. I know it. I know it like I know the sun rises in the afternoon and sets when it feels like it. Also I'm told 'you're a bad patient' a lot when I'm ill, so it must be true. And who was it that first decided chicken soup was the panacea of all ills? Whoever it was needs to be ... severely reprimanded. Probably Florence Nightingales uncle - who was on his uppers and had a chicken farm. Fu-Fu-Fu-Flu is not what I was expecting the last time I smo

Magical History Tour

I've been driving around to various historic locations, getting pictures for a travelogue I'm writing for an Ohio History course. It's a lot of fun. I'm seeing a bunch of towns, cities, and even parts of my own city that I never usually see. Here's a picture of me at Fort Meigs, watching suspiciously for the British Navy (Camy, I'm looking in your direction - you'd give me a heads up if you guys were going to give it another go and put us colonists in our place, right?). 85. Researching for Writing

I have been researching background for yet another idea for a story. "Why bother" I hear you ask. "Just write the story and don't worry about its authenticity." That's all well and good if I was writing to satisfy a fantasy of my own, without regard for historical, geographic or psychological relevance. Not that any of these have to be the determining factor for the story, but they do have to at least not be violated by invalid references. One of the things that stands revealed is the incompl

Random things...

Hey y'all! Wow, a month since the last time I wrote an entry, but no one cares. lol. I am on Thanksgiving break, and thank God...I need to sleep in! lol. I'm excited that Tara and her family is coming over for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow... Wow, it is the first Thanksgiving without Saul, but I am really thankful that I still have so many memories that I have created with Saul. Well, I regret that we have never got a chance to make new memories such as taking him to the club (we were suppos

Ear-ly in the mornin'.

A friend of mine recently joined the Navy. He was in town the other day, so we (and a couple others) went out to a karaoke bar to hang out. Now, for as long as I've known him, he's always thought that it would be hilarious to get the whole group together and perform a boy band song on stage. The rest of us figured, hey, the dude's home from the Navy - we ought to indulge him. This was the day it was going to go down. So, we get a turn, and saunter up to the stage. He's already close to falling-

3rd time around / the weather

I guess it's time to come clean and admit that no matter how hard I try I am an inveterate pantser. It's one of the reasons I mainly write short stories and not long and rambling novelesque things. All that seems to remain from my outline are the locations and characters, their names and their descriptions. Everything else has gone out of the window. Good or bad? I have no idea, and don't care so long as I get to the end of the first draft: then I can fix what's bust. I think I'm enjoying 'Wor

The Month of September and October

I must say I like the new look of our Blog's as well as the upgrade. It seems to be a step-up though it gives me more work as now I need to change my Blog to match the face lift of the site. But I'm ready, and if I'm not ready I am at least excited to start. It's been a while since I lost posted, ignoring my Election night brief entry because that doesn't really count, two months. I've had a lifetime worth of events transpire and its taken me that long and more to sort it all out. I hate le

Change is Going to Come

So as of thirty minutes ago, for good or for ill, America voted in Senator Obama by a large resounding margin. Soundly defeating McCain in key Republican states, I think America has spoken clearly and loudly that we need change in America. With such a majority, Republicans need to get behind the Presidential Elect and try to heal this country. I think McCain said it best in his concession speech that though they were opponents this morning, McCain will fall behind Obama and work with him to mo

84. Election Thoughts.

My personal thoughts on the US election It doesn't really matter what I think of the election result. Of course I am pleased Obama has been elected, but my reason for being pleased is both because I think the Democrats needed to be elected to adjust the balance away from the extremes of the right, and for a more selfish reason. Here in Australia our own "Left" wing party was elected to power not so long ago. The Labor party is our equivalent, in political terms, of the US Democrats. It is my f

AGHHHHHHHHH!!! 1761 when I should be at least at 5001 is peeving. Peeving I tell 'e. It's just not good enough! AGHHHHHHHHH!!! And, and, and oh poop. I picked the wrong day to give up sniffing glue. What? It's my blog I shall be as contentious as I like. And frankly - but don't tell anyone, it's a secret - I've never sniffed or mainlined glue. Or herbage either. Difficult to inject a large pot plant, anyway. Though why smoking one of God's own plants is illegal worries me. He/She/It gave us t

NaNoWriMo, Yo.

It's begun! I'm ahead of my daily word goal, so I'm happy. I'm hoping to hit 10,000 by midnight, tonight. I know I won't be getting nearly as much writing done during the school/work week, so I'm sneaking my laptop into work on the weekends to write during down time. If you'll direct your attention to the right of this post, you'll see that I've added a word-counter-ma-bob to the side of the blog. Feel free to berate and/or badger me if you don't see the number on that thing increase for a coup
